NBC Olympics

Scope

The library of Olympics video consists of 2,200 hours of live coverage, 20+ simultaneous live streams and 3,000+ hours of on-demand video. The challenge was to accomodate this vast storehouse of content in a central location and enable users to navigate it easily.

Method

Top-notch information architecture was fused with unique art direction to create a seamless user experience. The user's attention is guided to the content window and all auxillary content is available without becoming overwhelming. The flexibility of the design allows users to see exactly what they want and the client to guide users to additional content.

Results

The player exceeded every benchmark of success. The simple, effective art direction contributed to staggering metrics: 1.3 billion pageviews, 50+ million unique visitors, 70 million streams, 10 million hours of video watched. These metrics broke the record for any digital event in history.
