The library of Olympics video consists of 2,200 hours of live coverage, 20+ simultaneous live streams and 3,000+ hours of on-demand video. The challenge was to enable user-friendly navigation of this vast storehouse of content.
The user experience achieves a balance between simplicity and functionality. The user's attention is guided to the video and all auxillary content is available without becoming overwhelming. The flexibility of the design allows users to easily find what they want and the client to guide users to other desirable content.
The player and content achieved staggering metrics: 1.3 billion pageviews, 50+ million unique visitors, 70 million streams, 10 million hours of video watched. It was the single largest digital event in history.
